Ricky Sang wins 4th Le Pelley Cup
Ricky Sang of KCB Bank clinched the 4th edition of prestigious Le Pelley Cup.
Goan Gymkhana Club was the venue for this event and which ran from 23rd to 24th February 2019.
The event saw eight players battling it out over four tough rounds with two-hour time controls.
The average rating of the event was an impressive 1726 with Ricky Sang scoring 4 points out of 4 rounds.
Ricky Sang went home with KES 7,000 (USD 70) for his efforts.
Two times defending champion James Panchol ended up in joint 3rd position with 2 points.
Charles Lwanga who is the current Capablanca Cup Champion missed a clear win in his game against James Panchol.

Section B – Le Pelley Cup
The top 8 players were put in the main section A while the rest were included in the Section B of the Le Pelley Cup.
Section B had a total of 12 players. Jay Naker who was unrated was the surprise winner with 3 out of 4 points. Joseph Keongo & Meerabbas Afzali also obtained 3 points, but they had a lower tie break. The three of them shared a cash prize of KES 6,500.
Nairobi Chess Club has now hosted a record13 FIDE rated events over the past four years.
