66th Nairobi Chess Club Championship

Braeburn School, Gitanga Road, Nairobi, is the venue for the 66th Nairobi Chess Club Championship, which runs the weekend 3rd and 4th August 2024.

James Madol Panchol was the winner of the previous edition with a perfect score of 4 points out of 4 rounds. That victory represented the second time he has won the flagship Nairobi Chess Club event. His last victory was in the 61st Nairobi Chess Club Championship held in August 2019.

The competition has four rating sections: Open, U1800, U1600 and U1500. The U1500 section has prizes for specific age groups.

The tournament is FIDE rated, and time controls are:

  • 90 minutes plus 30 seconds for the Open
  • 90 minutes plus 30 seconds for the U1800 section.
  • 90 minutes plus 30 seconds for the U1600.
  • One hour flat for the U1500 section .
