GM Smerdon visits Nairobi Chess Club
Nairobi Chess Club hosted GM David Smerdon of Austrailia on 23rd June 2018.
The impromptu visit saw slightly over 40 player converge at at Goan Gymkhana along Ngara Road to meet him.
The affable GM took on all players in a delightful afternoon of blitz chess.
GM Smerdon versus James Kabui
GM Smerdon is rare breed of chess players. He is a Ph.D holder in Economics from the University of Amsterdam and Tinbergen Institute.
He has represented Australia at 7 Olympiad and is rated 2508.
He was in Kenya on a private visit and even got chance to be the guest of honour at the State House Girls High School Chess Tournament held on 30th June 2018.
