Traps, Tricks & Mistakes: Knight Trapped

A chess game ending in less than 25 moves is considered a miniature.
Players losing that kind of games usually make at least one critical mistake which is immediately punished by the opponent.

In the prestigious tournament ‘Corus’ held in Wijk aan Zee (Nederlands) in 2009, Wang Yue was the victim of one of these miniatures. He faced Ivanchuk in round 2 and blundered losing a knight just in the opening.

Despite losing the knight, Wang Yue played an ingenious attack.
Nevertheless, a piece down is a heavy burden and besides that, Ivanchuk started a furious attack over Wang’s king.
