Sometimes, it happens in chess games that one player intends to set up a trap but the final result is not completely successful for him. Then the question arises whether to resume the game, showing a poker face and playing without the expected advantage, or look for new resources in order not to get a worse position. In some cases, one resource is to repeat moves and agree with a draw.

That is what happens in one variation of the London System when Black goes for Benoni structures:

It happens in chess tournaments that players with similar score have had an irregular performance in the event and none of them has real chances to advance in the ranking. In those cases, in order to avoid the risk of losing extra rating points, they agree in a quick draw. Today’s example suits very well for that purpose.
