Traps, Tricks & Mistakes: Eccentric Development

The development of pieces is the most important principle in the opening. When that development is coherent, the chances of success are good. But if development follows personal desire rather than the spirit of the position, then disaster comes soon.

In today’s game, each side plays the opening developing their pieces at different speeds. And that makes the difference in terms of the initiative.

It’s worth noticing White’s brave decision to trade the queen for three minor pieces in order to take advantage of his better activity.
