Game Spotlight: 2019 Kenya National Chess Championship

Long-standing Nairobi Chess Club member Mehul Gohil won the 2019 Kenya National Chess Championship in December with an unbeaten record of 7 wins and 2 draws.  The most recent edition featured a large boost in support, with a new car for the winner, laptops for the ladies’ winner and best university students, and hundreds of thousands of shillings distributed among the top players.  For this week’s selection, we’ll look at the last of those wins, where a mistake right out of the opening gives Mehul an advantage he cashes in with an interesting endgame.
