Game Spotlight: 61st NCC Open 5

As we continue to look deeper into the games from the 61st Nairobi Chess Club Open Championship, there’s usually at least one game that’s notable for what it shows about how to improve.  The lesson from this selection is about patience.  Far too many club-level players will trade off pieces as soon as the option’s available, because they Gotta Do Something.  It’s usually far better to wait, though.  Here, White does a great job of setting up a very strong Knight outpost…only to trade it off right away and watch the game turn against him.

We’re still looking for players for our chess.com match against Chess School.  If you’d like to join us, make sure you’re part of our club and do so here.  The match starts Saturday.
