Game Spotlight: 2018 Jamhuri Cup 1

The second Jamhuri Cup was held over the weekend of December 8-9, featuring 16 players.  While I will be featuring games by the top performing players in future weeks, this week I wanted to look at a nice example of a problem a lot of players have — playing while ahead.

In chess, only the end result matters.  So you can be outplaying your opponent the entire game, but still lose or draw based on one mistake.  When you’re ahead, the most important consideration, above all else, is to not let your opponent back into the game.
