Every intermediate chess player knows the importance of controlling the centre of the board.

But, what if a player consciously disdains that basic rule and moves his/her pieces not pointing towards the centre?

In today’s example, you will see one of these cases. White plays initially undervaluing the importance of central squares. Nevertheless, the hidden intention of this strategy is to catch the opponent into a trap.

As you see, an apparent naïve move just in the opening without risking anything brings to a good reward if Black falls into the trap.
