Traps, Tricks & Mistakes: Kieninger Trap
This trap derives from the Budapest Gambit.
The Budapest Gambit appears after the sequence 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e5.
After black gives up his pawn on e5, the knight jumps to g4, intending not only to regain the pawn but also pointing to the weak square f2.
White then has the option to either give back the pawn or try to hold on to it, that is what happens in the trap.
The Kieninger trap is a cool trap because appears from time to time in serious competition. Most frequently between unrated players.
