Game Spotlight: African Zonals 2

Ugandan WFM Ivy Amoko won the women’s section of the Zone 4.2 Chess Championship, with a score of 7.5/9.  This selection, the last game of the tournament, was a bit atypical.  More of her wins were tactical in nature, pouncing on opposing mistakes.  This one was more positional, stopping her opponent’s plans and trading into a very favourable endgame.  As an extra note, this approach by Black seems critical in the development of the Nairobi Attack Formation, first seen at last year’s 60th Nairobi Chess Club Open Championship.  It appears white has some theoretical work to do.
