Game Spotlight: 3rd Jamhuri Cup 1
Last weekend, 14 players participated in the 3rd Jamhuri Cup. This small classical tournament was either an alternative to or preparation for the Kenya National Chess Championship. We’ll look at a great game from winner James Panchol next week, but for now, let’s look at an instructive unbalanced trade. For the most part, you don’t want to trade your Queen for anything other than a Queen. But there are times when strange trades involving the Queen are worthwhile. Notably, any three other pieces are worth more than a Queen:
