Game Spotlight: 2018 Jamhuri Cup 2

Peter Gilruth won the second Jamhuri Cup with a perfect score despite suffering from a head cold.  In this round 3 game, he went up against Dr. Victor Ngani, who was using the tournament as some last-minute training for the Kenya National Championship (which he went on to win).  Because the game was Sunday morning with the matches already announced, Gilruth was able to spend the evening preparing by reviewing Avrukh’s recommendations in d4 openings, shaping what was to come.

Our first event of 2019 is now scheduled and registered with FIDE.  The 9th Capablanca Cup will be on January 12-13.  The poster is on our Facebook page, more information will be up here on our website shortly.
