65th Nairobi Chess Club Championship

Braeburn School, Gitanga Road, Nairobi, is the venue for the 65th Nairobi Chess Club Championship, which runs the weekend 19th and 20th August 2023.

Ricky Sang was the winner in the previous edition, after obtaining 5.5 points out of 6 and winning a cash prize of KES 25,000 (USD 200)

The competition has four rating sections: Open, U1800, U1600 and U1400. The U1400 section has prizes for specific age groups.

The tournament is FIDE rated, and the time control is:

  • 90 minutes plus 30 seconds for the Open
  • 90 minutes plus 30 seconds for the U1800 section.
  • Two hours flat for the section U1600.
  • One hour flat for the U1400 section .
