Traps, Tricks & Mistakes: Short Term Investment

When playing the Bishop opening (1.e4 e5 2.Bc4) Black can play an easy trap which helps to quickly develop his/her pieces.
This trap involves a temporary knight sacrifice, which we can refer to as a ‘short term investment’. It’s really ‘short term’ because Black can recover the piece only two moves later.

The same trap can apply in the Vienna opening (1.e4 e5 2.Nc3) or the Four Knights opening (1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Nc3 Nf6).
